Brixton Sounds was born in 2003 in Oaxaca, Mexico as a Ska band playing covers of famous artists. After regularly playing bars and clubs, they decided to play more Rocksteady and Reggae music, and started to write their own original material. Their first single was a 7” vinyl in 2012 that was part of the “singles” collection on Steady Beat Recordings, then they followed that up with an album release on Jump Up records.
Brisxton sounds has shared the stage with many international Ska and Reggae artists including The Aggrolites, Chris Murray, and have performed at various festivals and events.
This is Brixton Sounds’ 2nd release on Steady Beat and is a tribute to the big sound of early 60’s Jamaican Ska. Big beat bass lines and a dynamic horn section with crafty arrangements gives this release the punch you need to skank the night away!
